The Ultimate SE QLD Storm Season Checklist: Roof and Gutter Prep

<p><strong>Storm season in South East Queensland runs roughly November to March</strong>, with the worst hail and wind events typically in December and January. If your gutters, downpipes or roof are not ready, you are gambling with tens of thousands of dollars of water damage.</p> <p>This is the same checklist our Primeline crews use on every pre-storm-season maintenance job across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich and the Gold Coast.</p> <h2>1. Clear every gutter and downpipe</h2> <p>A full gutter overflows in seconds during a Brisbane thunderstorm. Water runs back into your eaves, soffits and wall cavities. Have every metre of gutter hand-cleared, then flushed, before the first big storm.</p> <h2>2. Check the valleys and behind solar panels</h2> <p>Roof valleys collect leaves faster than the gutter itself. Solar panels create dam points that trap debris. Both need to be checked visually, not just from the ground.</p> <h2>3. Flush and pressure-test downpipes</h2> <p>A clear gutter is worthless if the downpipe is blocked halfway down. We flush every downpipe with water pressure to confirm free flow to the stormwater.</p> <h2>4. Trim overhanging branches</h2> <p>Gum trees drop leaves constantly and shed limbs in wind. Anything within 2m of the roofline should be pruned before November.</p> <h2>5. Inspect ridge caps, flashings and broken tiles</h2> <p>Wind lifts loose ridge caps and cracked tiles first. A quick roof inspection catches these before rain finds them.</p> <h2>6. Clean the roof of moss and lichen</h2> <p>Moss holds water against the tiles or metal, accelerating corrosion and creating the debris that blocks your gutters two months later.</p> <h2>7.
